Florida Keys

The Florida Keys are famous for harboring such historical luminaries as playwright Tennessee Williams, novelist Ernest Hemingway, and bird-chronicler John James Audubon. In truth, aspiring artists continue to be drawn to the Keys. They come not just for the spectacular sunsets and stunning wildlife but for the free-spirited way of life embodied by the Keys. That spirit is evident at the many festivals and events you will find listed on our cultural calendar . Here you can visit a tiny gallery, take in a community play, enjoy an open-air festival or attend a symphony orchestra. You'll find that the Keys are rich in cultural opportunities.

Bahamas

The Islands Of The Bahamas is a 100,000-sq-mile archipelago that extends over 500 miles of the clearest water in the world. Our 700 islands, including uninhabited cays and large rocks, total an estimated land area of 5,382 sq miles, and register a highest land elevation of 206 ft. Most notable, however, is that each island has its own diversity that continues beyond geography, carrying through to the heart of The Bahamas, the Bahamian people. You’ll find it in our heritage. In our culture. And in our humble pride. These are The Islands Of The Bahamas. Population: somewhere north of 300,000

Dry Tortugas

The Tortugas were first discovered by Ponce de Leon in 1513. Abundant sea turtles or "tortugas" provisioned his ships with fresh meat, but there was no fresh water-the tortugas were dry. Since the days of Spanish exploration, the reefs and shoals of the Dry Tortugas have been a serious hazard to navigation and the site of hundreds of shipwrecks.

Sailing from Florida to the Dry Tortugas is an offshore delivery. Albeit only about 24 hours, it is not just a daysail. Once in the Tortugas there is awesome sea life and island hopping. This trip is not for the faint of heart but is an excellent chance to upgrade your sailing experience with an short offshore delivery with an excellent reward at the end. Delivery means that everyone takes turns at the helm on a fixed sleeping schedule during the delivery. Any type of weather may be experienced in the Florida Straights.
