Head Sailing Instructor for BVI Based ASA Sailing School, teaching ASA courses ranging from basic sailing to advanced coastal cruising, navigation, and multihull sailing aboard various Beneteau, Hunter, and Jeaneau charter vessels. 2000 - 2001

Owner/Operator of small charter operation on the seaside of Virginia’s Eastern Shore aboard 35’ Bay Built Deadrise, “Kingfish”.  Specialized in Nature tours and Barrier Island fishing trips.  Handled maintenance and refit of hull and engines.

 

Cape Charles Sailing Association – Cape Charles, VA

Founded and managed local yachting organization designed to promote community boating and youth programs.  Eastern Shore Sailing Foundation was also formed as a sister non-profit fundraising organization.  Grew membership to 90 people. Handled committees, politics, fundraising, accounting and fiscal management.

 

Contracting Business – Cape Charles, VA

Started a small contracting business with 3 employees.  Specialized in remodeling older homes and upgrading with custom cabinetry. Woodwork was the main focus of the business.  Promoted custom milling services, cabinetry, yacht carpentry, and finishing services.

 

Pelican Pub – Cape Charles, VA

General Manager of small seaside restaurant and bar.  Handled food and liquor cost controls, inventory and ordering, menu selection, personnel, marketing and promotions.

Captain and Project Manager for high tech 50’ by 35’ Shuttleworth Catamaran.  Handled operation of vessel for cruising and racing, crew management, assisted with project management during $350k refit of the vessel making it one of the most beautiful multihulls in existence.
